After giving birth to my second son, I started researching different products to test as this pregnancy did a number on my skin. I have acne prone skin and my hormonal acne never fails to make an appearance. I was hopeful that after my hours of TikTok scrolling, internet searches, and YouTube videos that I could find the right products that would work to fade my dark spots but also help prevent future breakouts. The products I have listed are only used at night and have been working wonders on my skin. I have also adapted a method of only washing my face at night time versus washing it in the morning when I wake up. I found a page that talked about how we apply products at night to absorb into our skin, but then in the morning we wash it all away. The page discussed that we should apply our normal morning routine products that we normally use; we are just skipping the washing portion. Okay hear me out, I am still washing my eyes as it wakes me up and makes me feel better, but this method has been working for me so far!
There are only three products that I have been using at night and while I think I will start incorporating more products soon, I am taking it one step at a time and making sure I do research before I just randomly start putting products on my skin.
- Urban Skin Rx – Clear Skin Cleansing Bar – Wow! That is all I can say. I follow the application process as the package states and allow the product to sit on my face for 3 minutes when I want to do the mask. For my normal night time routine I only allow the product to sit on my face for a minute before I wash it off with warm water. I have only been using the cleansing bar for roughly two weeks but have already noticed less acne making an appearance on my face, along with a few of my dark spots slightly fading. This product does burn slightly if you apply too much pressure which I learned after the first few uses. I believe due to the cleansing bar having two key blemish-fighting ingredients Salicylic Acid and Sulfur, this has really helped to transform my skin. Urban Skin Rx has other cleansing bars that may work for you but be sure to do your research as one may work better for you than this one.
- Aquaphor – Yes, Aquaphor the thick healing ointment next to Vaseline. when applying this I know that not only is my skin absorbing the moisture but my skin is also healing. It helps to soothe and protect my skin to enhance healing from skin irritants.
- Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch – I have been using these patches for over a year now and they really work miracles. Not only does it visibly reduce the size of the pimple but it helps pull out the pus from whiteheads you may have and speeds up the healing process. For my hormonal acne it helps to flatten the pimple and reduce the pain that comes along with those pesky hormonal flare ups.
This combination of products has drastically changed my skin in the matter of two weeks. I have struggled for years with finding what works best, but it seems to be my skin just wants a simple routine and not the in depth one I had previously. I will slowly begin to incorporate new products, but only once I have done more research on them and make sure that it will help my skin instead of irritating it.
